Online enrolment and pre-enrolment FAQ

What is Online Pre-Enrolment?

Before you can be enrolled we need to collect some further information about you. We collect this information for a number of reasons, including reporting requirements to government agencies (e.g. HESA - The Higher Education Statistics Agency), and the provision of adequate support once you arrive at the University. By completing Online Pre-Enrolment you can provide this information in your own time, and this also means that your face-to-face enrolment will be much quicker when you arrive at SHU.

What is Enrolment?

Enrolment is the process by which a student officially becomes a member of the University. By agreeing to the terms and conditions you will enter into a formal contract with us. You will be able to access IT resources and receive your SHU card. Where appropriate we will confirm your attendance to Student Finance, allowing you to access your student loan.

What is Online Enrolment?

If you are not attending a face-to-face enrolment event we will invite you complete Online Enrolment. This is likely to be the case for distance learning courses and some continuing professional development courses. By completing Online Enrolment you will become an official member of the University. By agreeing to the terms and conditions you will enter into a formal contract with us.

Where can I find Online Enrolment/Pre-Enrolment?

You will only be able to access the link to My Student Record (the online student record system) once you have received your email invitation to complete Online Enrolment/Pre-Enrolment. My Student Record can be accessed here - https://msr.shu.ac.uk/urd/sits.urd/run/siw_lgn and via shuspace, where there is a link at the top right of the screen.

My login details are not working - what should I do?

  1. Your username and password are case sensitive, so make sure the CAPS lock isn't on.
  2. If you need to re-set your password you can do that here: https://webutils.cis.shu.ac.uk/register/.
  3. In the event of access problems to the Online Enrolment/Pre-Enrolment system we will try to notify you as soon as possible via email or a message on the login page of shuspace or the SHU website http://www.shu.ac.uk.

I am stuck in the Get Address function - how do I get out?

Once you have clicked on the 'Get Address' button you will be taken into an external system which will allow you to find your address using your postcode.

If you have entered this by mistake you will need to fill in your address details in order to return to Online Enrolment/Pre-Enrolment. You should not use the back button on your internet browser.

If you are unable to return to Online Enrolment/Pre-Enrolment please close your web browser, then use the link below to re-open My Student Record. When you click on 'Enrolment/Pre-Enrolment 2013/14' you should be taken back to the Address page.

I have clicked on 'Next' but nothing is happening - what should I do?

If you click the 'Next' button and nothing happens it is probably because you have left a mandatory field blank. Make sure you have completed all the fields which are marked with a red asterisk *.

If you have completed all the mandatory fields and still cannot move on please contact us by email at webenrolhelp@shu.ac.uk

I am on the wrong course - what should I do?

While completing Online Enrolment/Pre-Enrolment you will be given the opportunity to check your course details and contact us if you think they are incorrect.

I am eligible for a discount but this is not being displayed on the Fee Amount screen - what should I do?

All fees shown are the total fees for the course.  Any discounts or waivers will be deducted before invoicing takes place. Please continue with Online Enrolment/Pre-Enrolment.

I have found myself in an online application - what should I do?

If you find that you have accidently entered an online application please close your web browser then use the link below to re-open My Student Record.

I want to defer my start date - how can I do this?

If you are unable to join the University in the coming academic year, and wish to defer your entry please contact the University Admissions office on 0114 225 5555.

I have a disability which means that I can not complete Online Pre-enrolment - what should I do?
