What are Disabled Students' Allowances?

DSAs help pay for the extra costs you may have as a direct result of your disability. The money is not paid directly to you it pays for your support.

The allowances can help with the cost of:

  • having a person to support you, such as a mentor, specialist study skills tutor or sign language interpreter
  • items of specialist equipment
  • travel

If you think you are eligible, you should apply for DSAs as soon as possible. You can apply at any stage of your course. You can apply as soon as you receive an offer (conditional or firm) of a place on a course. You don’t have to wait until you have a confirmed place.

If you need help applying for DSAs, please come to one of our receptions during drop in hours.
