Graduation Hardship Scheme

The Graduation Hardship scheme is available to students needing help to cover the costs of their graduation ceremony.

Successful applicants will receive a one-off payment of £50 to help towards the costs associated with attending a graduation ceremony.

The fund is strictly limited and applications will close when available funds have been spent or at 5pm on Friday 15 October 2021, whichever is earlier.

To be eligible to apply for this scheme you must:

  • Be a Sheffield Hallam graduate
  • Have completed your course in 2020 or 2021
  • Be eligible to graduate at a ceremony planned for November 2021
  • Have booked and paid for tickets to a ceremony planned for November 2021
  • Have a UK bank account in your name

You can apply regardless of any previous funding you may have received. International graduates can apply but must have a UK bank account. We cannot make payments to international bank accounts.

Applications will be considered based on a personal statement and by assessing bank statements. Graduates with significant balances and/or clear evidence of substantial/regular income are not likely to be successful.

If your application is successful, a payment will only be released once we have confirmed that you have booked and paid for graduation tickets. The Student Funding team will check this internally. Awards will be disbursed to successful applicates on a first come, first served basis and the scheme will close as soon as available funds have been spent.
