Placement Bursary

Undergraduate placement year students may be eligible for the Placement Bursary.

What's available?

If you received a payment from the Student Success Scholarship (SSS) in the year prior to your placement year, you will normally be eligible to receive the Placement Bursary.

If you did not receive SSS in the 2021/22 academic year but your household income is less than £62,143, you may still be eligible to receive the Placement Bursary.

Who can apply?

To qualify, you must:

  • Be enrolled onto a placement year
  • Be a home fee student
  • Be paying (or have a loan to cover) the placement year fee of £1,200
  • Have submitted a Handshake Experience Approval Request and had it approved by the University

How and when to apply?

Please ensure you carefully read the Placement Bursary guidance document before applying.

We will aim to contact you, if eligible, by the end of September through your Sheffield Hallam student email account.

If you have received an email from us asking you to complete and submit a claim form, please click on the relevant button below to access the form. Please note, you will only have access to the form you are eligible for.
