Borrowing AV equipment

You can borrow a variety of Audio Visual (AV) equipment from the library Helpdesks during staffed hours, including dictaphones, cameras, camcorders, and headphones (only 1 of each at one time). Please note:

  • Most equipment can be borrowed for two weeks; you will need your SHUcard in order to do this.
  • Equipment is not bookable in advance and is allocated on a first come first served basis.
  • If items are returned late, you may be blocked from using the service.

You may also be able to borrow AV equipment from your faculty. Ask at your faculty Helpdesk for details.

Students with learning contracts

Assistive Technology Resources (ATR) can also be borrowed from the library Helpdesks. All items are for day loan and must be used within the library.

If you have applied for Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs), you may be able to borrow equipment such as a digital recorder or laptop from the Disabled Student Support Team.

If you aren't eligible for DSAs but have medical evidence of your disability, you may still be able to borrow equipment. Supplies are limited and we can only loan equipment for disability-related reasons.
