Extending PC bookings

All users are limited to 5 hours use of advanced booking PCs per day, between 7am - 5pm Monday - Friday and 7am - 4pm Saturday and Sunday

The 5 hour limit is in place to ensure fair access to PCs for all students, but it is sometimes possible to extend your booking. One hour extensions can be added to the end of an existing booking, at no cost to your allowance. There is no limit to the extensions you can make, but it is only possible to extend your session if you are still logged into the PC for an existing booking, and also if the PC is not booked immediately afterwards.

Extensions can be used to work on a PC for longer than the 5 hour limit, but cannot be guaranteed.

How to extend bookings

  • During a booking, right-click on the yellow MyPC icon in the system tray (near the clock). Note you may need to click the 'Up' arrow in the system tray to access the icon
  • Click 'Extend Session'
  • At this point, you will be able to choose a new end time for your booking – up to one hour, or until the PC is next booked, whichever comes first
  • Click Save to confirm the extension
  • Steps 1-4 can be repeated towards the end of any booking, even an extension, so long as the PC is free

Please refer to How do I book a PC? for full details of the MyPC system.
