How to request books

If you need a book but find that all of the copies are already on loan, you can make a request so the next copy that becomes available will be kept for you. If a book you need is at Collegiate Library, you can request a copy to collect at Adsetts, and vice versa. Books showing as ‘available’ on Library Search at the same library where you are can only be collected directly from the shelves unless you qualify for extended loans.

How to make a request

  • Find the book on Library Search and click on Find in Library
  • If you have not already signed in click on Sign-in for more options
  • Click on Request
  • Fill in the short form
  • Click Request to submit

You will receive a notice by email when the book is ready for collection which will also tell you the date by which it has to be collected, or you can also check My Library Account and click on Requests. When the book is ready for pickup, you can collect it from the Requests shelf.

Books you have requested will be held for you at the library you selected, for:

  • 3 days (for full-time students and associate members)
  • 7 days (for part-time students, distance learning students, students with learning contracts, research students, and staff)
