If you are starting a course that is taught at the University, it is likely to consist of a two stage enrolment process. This will include pre-enrolment which you will be invited to complete online before you arrive in Sheffield, followed by an enrolment event during your first weeks at the University where you will be fully enrolled. By agreeing to the terms and conditions you will enter into a formal contract with us.
Once you are fully enrolled you will receive your SHUcard and be able to access IT resources and the libraries. Where appropriate we will confirm your attendance to Student Finance, allowing you to access your student loan.
IT account activation
Before you are able to begin the enrolment process you must activate your SHU IT account. To do this follow the link provided in your pre-enrolment invitation where you will be able to create a password and security questions for your account. Once an account has been created you can use your new password to login and begin pre-enrolment.
In the weeks before you are due to arrive in Sheffield we will invite you, via email, to complete your pre-enrolment online. This will require you to provide some further information about yourself before you can be fully enrolled as a new student at Sheffield Hallam University.
You will enrol via My Student Record (the student record system), which you will be able to access once you have received your enrolment email. There is a link to My Student Record at the top right of the screen in shuspace.
By completing the pre-enrolment process you will help us to enrol you more quickly at your enrolment event during your first week at Sheffield Hallam.
Full online enrolment
If you are studying on a distance learning or continuing professional development course you may enrol fully online. We will invite you to complete online enrolment by email. This will require you to provide some further information about yourself, which you must provide before you can be fully enrolled as a new student at Sheffield Hallam University.
It is crucial that you provide us with a valid email address. If you have a work or college email, please also supply a personal one, so we can be sure of contacting you.
If you wish to defer your entry please contact the University Admissions office on 0114 225 5555.
If you are a returning student, you will need to re-enrol in My Student Record; an email reminder inviting you to do so will be sent out before the start of the year.
- Login to My Student Record using your normal SHU username and password
- Once you are logged in, select 'My Enrolment and Fees' from the menu on the left
- Use the 'Next' buttons to move through the screens. There will be instructions to guide you through
- If you log out part way through, you will be able to return to the point at which you stopped the next time you login
- At the end you MUST click 'Finish' to complete the enrolment process
If you have not enrolled within three weeks of your course start date, the University will withdraw you from your programme of study. In addition, we will inform Student Finance England or appropriate award authority and cancel access to the Learning Centre and to all IT systems, including Blackboard.
If you do not intend to continue studying on your course, you should complete the withdrawal process by contacting your Faculty office.
