Can I bring my children into the libraries?

Parents or carers are welcome to bring children into the libraries but please bear in mind the following with regard to child safety:

  • We do not restrict entry to the libraries. The buildings are open to the general public
  • The parent or carer is responsible for the safety and conduct of the child. They should be accompanied and supervised at all times
  • Our libraries are designed for adults. Be wary of hazards like stairs, balconies, sharp corners or electrical equipment
  • Some of the books will not be suitable for young children
  • Children are not allowed to use the PCs in the building
  • Children are not allowed in the quiet or silent areas on level 2 or the quiet area on level 4 of the Adsetts Library
  • Children are not allowed in the quiet or silent area on the first floor of the Collegiate Library

These guidelines are intended for children under 16.
