New students

If you are starting a course that is taught at the University, it is likely to consist of a two stage enrolment process. This will include Online Pre-Enrolment which you will be invited to complete before you arrive in Sheffield, followed by an enrolment event during your first weeks at the University where you will be fully enrolled.

Before you arrive - Online pre-enrolment

In the weeks before you are due to arrive in Sheffield we will invite you to complete Online Pre-Enrolment. This will require you to provide some further information about yourself. You need to provide the requested information before you can be fully enrolled as a new student at Sheffield Hallam University.

By completing Online Pre-Enrolment before you arrive, you will help us to enrol you more quickly during your first week at Sheffield Hallam. Details about how to access Online Pre-Enrolment will be sent to you by email. Please ensure that you provide us with an email address.

When you arrive - Your enrolment event

You will need to bring the following to your enrolment event:

• your printed Pre-Enrolment Summary from Online Pre-Enrolment
• evidence of your previous qualifications, including any English Language Qualifications (please bring original certificates as photocopies are not acceptable)
• proof of identification that features your photograph (passport, UK photo ID driving licence, HM Forces ID card, UK/EU photo ID card) OR two alternative forms of identification - one that features your legal name and date of birth and one that features your name and home address.
• If you are an International student, you must provide your valid passport and visa documentation.  We will take a copy of your visa and passport at your enrolment event.
• If you are an International student enrolling on a course which requires you to have an ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) certificate, you must bring the ATAS certificate with you to your enrolment event.  If you need an ATAS certificate for your course this will be explained in your offer letter. 
• If you are an International Student, you must also provide proof of payment of 50% of your course fee. If you have not paid 50% of your course fees you will be able to pay these through the Online Payment System, or on arrival in Sheffield; however if you are unable to pay the fees you will be unable to fully enrol on your course at your enrolment event.

Full online enrolment

If you are studying on a distance learning or continuing professional development course you may be completing Full Online Enrolment. This means that you will be able to enrol fully on your course using our Online Enrolment facility.

We will invite you to complete Online Enrolment by email. This will require you to provide some further information about yourself. You will need to provide the requested information before you can be fully enrolled as a new student at Sheffield Hallam University.

Details about how to access Online Enrolment will be sent to you by email. It is crucial that you provide us with a valid email address. If you have a work or college email, please also supply a personal one, so we can be sure of contacting you. For security reasons we will send you two emails, the first will contain your username and the second, sent twenty-four hours later, will contain your password.
