Student Wellbeing Service

We can help you manage personal issues that might impact on your studies and we offer a range of options to support you during your time here. Our services are confidential [view policy], delivered at both campuses and we have qualified practitioners from different backgrounds in case you have specific requirements.

Please note that we are not an emergency or crisis service. If you need to speak to someone in an emergency please contact your GP, the NHS on 111 or the Samaritans on 116 123 or jo@samaritans.org

We offer

Self-help

Remember that you are not alone. Our approach is based on helping you to manage things yourself and there are many effective tools you can try, including web based self-help resources and leaflets or books that you can borrow from our reception.

Group sessions

Our group sessions run during term-time and give you the chance to learn skills and techniques to enhance your wellbeing and get the most out of university life. We explore some key ideas and skills, and how to put them into practice. Find out more and book a place

Wellbeing appointments

In a wellbeing appointment we will discuss your concerns and help you find ways of coping with the immediate situation. We can help you make positive changes with targeted, proactive support to overcome any difficulties you are facing. The emphasis is on being well and staying well, managing emotions, building resilience, and exploring and strengthening your personal resources. You will need to register before booking an appointment.

Other support

Our practitioners can direct you towards additional specialist support if required. If your contact with us is ongoing, or if we feel you would benefit from one of the following, we may offer counselling, mental health support, faith advice, exercise prescription scheme, conflict resolution or referral to a specialist service outside of the university.
